Butler Did It!

Another shining example of versatility is 44-year-old Gerard Butler. This Scotsman has played in everything from hardcore battle films like Zach Snyder's 300 to romantic comedies like The Ugly Truth. Let's take a quick look at what Mr. Butler is going to serve up in the next few months. See what I did there with his name? I'm pretty clever, no?

The only thing your going to see Gerard Butler in next year is not even going to show his face. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is coming out in June and will be Butler's the second voice acting endeavor, How to Train Your Dragon being the first. It's being directed by Dean DeBlois, who also directed the first movie which remains one of my favorite animated movies of all time. I saw the first movie in 3D and it blew me away. I'll be doing the same for the sequel. 

In 2015, Butler will be starring along side Geoffrey Rush in a film titled Gods of Egypt. An action adventure film, this will be directed by Alex Proyas, the man behind such films as Dark City, I, Robot and Knowing. All the description says is, "A common thief joins a mythical god on a quest through Egypt." 

Lastly, Gerard Butler has been announced as the star of a follow up to this years, Olympus Has Fallen. IMDB lists no description but we can assume from the title that this movie takes place over the pond rather than the U.S. London Has Fallen does not yet have a release date but the stars of the original film are listed as talent including: Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart and Angela Bassett. 

Gerard is also rumored to be starring in a movie adaptation of the violent FPS game Kane and Lynch with Vin Diesel. That one should be a bloody violent mess, but should sell a lot of tickets. Game-turned-movie films always do. 

That's what Gerard Butler is up to. He's not as busy as some actors in Hollywood but as Nicholas Cage is learning the hard way, it's more about quality than quantity.
